BLP – Here at last!

Friday nights "best light bike" competition

Friday nights "best light bike" competition

The organisation of the Light Parade for 2009 has proved to be the most complicated to date. I wont bore you with the detail but it was certainly an uphill climb for those involved.  Thankfully everything is now in place from the accomodation, entertainment, police and the light parade on the Saturday night itself.

Watch out for the filter lane and entrance to the static display area on the Saturday morning, apart from that it looks like being a great weekend.
The team look forward to welcoming  you all to Blackpool.

Five minutes of fame

Lesley on something bigger than her FS1e

Our very own Lesley Halley finally gets her five minutes of fame on the BBC Lancashire web site. Have a read of the article here. Lesley was asked at the recent Fleetwood Tram Sunday Transport Festival event if she would take an interview and give a ladies perspective on motorcycling.  Never knew she had a Yamaha FS1e. What a star.

Federation launch site

FUKGWC on Black 300x197 Federation launch siteThe Federation of UK Goldwing Clubs has launched its official website. I’m sure it will attract lots of interested visitors over the coming months and hopefully some sensible comment. It’s early days yet and there are few clubs in number but any organisation has to start somewhere. Here’s to the future.

Goldwings gather at Kirkby

thumbs klbbq011 Goldwings gather at KirkbyFrom the number of post’s submitted about this weekend I would say a good day was had by all. However, two hours before the start of the bar b cue on Saturday the weather was absolutely atrocious. The rain was being driven sidewards and the marquee was being battered and held down by soggy volunteers. For some reason most of the members had decided to take a walk into Kirkby Lonsdale for a quick look round. We were very lucky

Federation patches arrive.

federation patch thumb Federation patches arrive. The Federation patches have now arrived and are in the hands of Lynette Duxbury. Several members have already purchased them and you may notice they are already being proudly worn on Goldwings North West club regalia. They have been designed to be a certain size so that older insignia can be covered and favoured regalia re-used. Lynette has done a sterling job in getting both patches available for members so quickly. If you have any specific requirements regarding colour or size of garment then have a chat with her, I know that Lesley Halley already has a pink  polo shirt, and I don’t think she will be the last.

Help for Heroes

Help for Heroes

Hi all.
What can I say? 19 bikes turned up for this worthy charity. And four members from, Goldwings North Wales, brilliant. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw you all then they just kept arriving, one or two got lost but made it in the end. What a splendid sight all 19 Goldwings, Frank leading us down the wrong road,(I have to say, I did tell him to turn right) the locals must have wondered what was going on with us riding round their estate.

Nice start for Charity

thumbs nw air ambulance Nice start for CharityPete Rodgers, our treasurer, reports that the charity collection in aid of the North West Air ambulance is going well. All donations received so far have been from the many events we have attended throughout the year, and I’m sure there is still plenty to be collected in the next few months. If you have a charity collection tin in your bike please bring it to the next meeting or ensure it is emptied at the next event.

100 pictures from RAF Woodvale

Thanks to Frank Goodman, Pete Rodgers, Dave Bayliss, and Lesley Hally. The pictures don’t do the weekend justice, for those who couldn’t make it we really did have a great time.

Banners fly at RAF Woodvale

thumbs raf woodvale 5 Banners fly at RAF Woodvale What a super weekend at Woodvale. Its a pity they don’t run this event every month. The combination of classic bikes, cars, specialist clubs, model aircraft flying displays and the traders makes this weekend a great event for everyone. The airfield is almost full with things to see and do.
This year our display area was right next to the bar and public toilets. I think we did the right thing camping in our usual spot
