Federation announces retirement of web-master

Nigel Mackintosh, master of the black art and provider of all things technical has retired from his volunteer role as web-master for the Federation. We are deeply indebted to Nigel for our own website GoldWings North West, and the support we have received over the last three years.

Nigel has kindly managed his retirement so that there is little or no interference with our current website, or how it can be operated in the future.

The Federation website has just posted news regarding changes to their volunteer structure for 2012. Looks like our very own Ian Duxbury has offered his services and joined the team moving the Federation forward . Read the full posting here. Light Parade- goes to Southport for 2012

Jeff Thornton and his team have finalised the details for the 2012 Goldwing Light Parade and announced it will be held inthe seaside resort of Southport.

The dates are 21st -23rd September and the venue for the weekend is the Prince of Wales Hotel right in the middle of town on Lord Street. The accommodation package is an amazingly good deal with rooms costing £77.50 per person for Friday and Saturday nights (two nights) and include your breakfast and evening meals. Single rooms are also the same price. Wingers can extend the weekend break and add further nights to the package at £30.00 per person per night. How good is that. Ring Maria Broderick at the Hotel on 01704 536 688 and book your accommodation, quoting booking code GOPR2109.

The usual format of parade and best lit bike competition will take place along with a static display during the day. There are still a couple of locations to be finalised but the Police and Marshalling is already arranged with the full support of the Council. All we need now is the weather. Trust Jeff has got that sorted too.

Run for a total of 20 minutes and still as good as new. Comes with instruction leaflet and tool kit. If anyone is interested as a power source for a caravan/motor home perhaps let me know asap. It will be going on eBay shortly. You can buy these new for around £85.00, including delivery so if anyone wants if for £50.00 its yours.

What you missed page added to website

We had a lively meeting this month, and a good idea that came from it was having a web page under the members section that displayed what absent members had missed, i.e. if you couldn’t attend the meeting and want to keep up to date with what was going on then you could read up on proceedings. Nothing in depth was called for just bullet points and outcomes. Well that’s easy enough, have a look for the new page called “members“. Click on the tab and you will be asked for the password, its the same as for members pictures. You will also notice I have moved the members pictures to this section and renamed it gallery. Hope it helps!

2003 GL1800 EML Trike – NOW SOLD Thanks!

This one owner, US specification, less than 7,000 miles EML Martinique Trike has been polished endlessly and is in a near new condition as a 2003 GoldWing could ever be – and it’s for sale.

It has a chrome top box rack, chrome engine covers and lots of other chrome, tow bar with electrics, Tulsa screen fitted, but it does have the original one. It also has one of those MP3 music players that pretends to be a Honda CD player and works with the bike’s built in controls and the display of disk and track number.

Because it’s a US spec GL1800 this trike can be fitted with a Hondaline CB radio should the new owner wish to do so.

The trike has also had quite a bit of discrete display lighting fitted for use in Light Parades.

Price includes a newly done MOT on hand over.

Maroon GL1800 Stolen

Maroon GL1800 stolen: Few people have ever heard of a GoldWing being stolen, but I’m sorry to report that our Vice-Chairman’s very recently acquired Maroon GL1800 – shown in the attached photo – has disappeared from its garage over the last couple of days. The registration is FE07OKX, so would all Wingers please keep an eye out for it being ridden or offered for sale. If you hear of a job lot of spare parts coming available suddenly in your area, please let us know and we will follow up on it.

Air Ambulance wins out with Cheryl

Well done to Cheryl Daniel for placing one of our charity collection boxes at her place of work, she collected a nice sum of £20.63p. towards our Air Ambulance charity. Thanks again Cheryl, a brilliant job.

Seeing as Decembers meeting date was to fall on Christmas day it seems wise to hold the meeting a week earlier on the 18th December. Same venue and time. There will be no doubt full Christmas Lunch available at the Norman Jepson.
