Steam Train Outing
The Keighley & Worth Valley Railway regularly opens its doors to groups and steam enthusiasts. Members Jimmy & Daphne Ryan have booked our very own steam train experience to take us through the Yorkshire countryside. The day includes all day travel in our own period carriage, with a buffet lunch plus a real ale buffet car. The cost of the day is £17.00 with a £5.00 deposit payable to Daphne Ryan at the next meeting, the balance being due on the day. As always the event is open to friends and family. This steam day is something many members have enjoyed in the past, the last one in 2005, and a good day it is too. You can get off the train at any station along the route and explore the town or stay on board and just enjoy the day. We pick up the train at Ingrow West station at 11:00 am, where there is free car parking. We also receive free tickets to the railway museum and not forgetting there is also Appleyards Goldwing dealership around the corner. Children up to 5 years old are free and betwen 5- 12 years old half price.

This is a really good day out, last time we did this the weather was really cold but we were all as snug as a bug in a rug on board the steam train. Already paid my deposit.

We’re looking forward to this event, we have’nt been for a few years and we have members now who have never been, let’s hope the weather is kind to us so we can get on and off the train to enjoy what’s on at the various stops. Thanks to Jim and Daphne for organising it.

I think last time we did this trip it was freezing and during the afternoon it started to snow. It was brilliant chugging up and down the line in the steam and warmth of the carriage. I hope it snows again.
