Christmas Party – Ideas!
As the whole country is suffering the blistering heat wave our minds start to wander to times of cooler weather. The best time for cooler weather is Christmas : not that far away really, its only 13 weeks away! So we must put some thoughts together at what the members would like to do for a Christmas Dinner Dance. Due to being a club in infancy our membership number is around 60 people although it is climbing nicely every week, and with guest in our families and friends I am sure we could manage to fill a room and have a private party and boogie, or ……
This year the Swallow are in the run up to Christmas putting on themed party nights, we could all limbo on the Caribbean night, be sleek and mysterious on the James Bond night, be transported to the tartan trousers of the Bay City Rollers for the 70′s night, be electrified by the 80′s or just rock around the clock on the rock and roll night!
We need your feedback on what you would like to do and some sort of ideas on numbers. These nights will soon be being booked by office parties etc and I would hate us to lose out on a night that the majority of members would like to do. Have a think about it, and reply on the site or let us know at the next meeting.

Hi Lesley
My feelings are that we hold the Christmas Party at the Swallow Hotel in support of the free facilities we have all year round. If we had to pay for our meeting room your looking around £45.00 per month.
Ideally the big room booked just for Goldwings North West would be great along with a low room rate for a nights accommodation. Appreciate we would need around 100 guests to achieve that.
Jackie and me would want a table for at least 8 people. lets see what response we get, you never know if everyone brings at least 2 guests we could easily fill the room.

Well Bob, me and my partner(I’m speaking for her in doors lol) will be coming, maybe I can see about a few friends making it too. Before you know it, it will be here. Is it me or does time get quicker the older you get? Being 21 I would’nt know! lol. Looking forward to a good laugh and knee’s up.

Swallow hotel fine with toni and me – and if the dj is rubbish we will take over – we are both ex dj’s of 15 years standing and used to a crowd of mixed music likes. count us in – I’ll bring me I pod just in case.

Another alternative would be to keep the party purely for Goldwings North West members, ie no guests and have a private party in a smaller room in a restaurant etc. No overnight stay. This may appeal to more members rather than the big brash affair that I like.

I agree with Bob in that we should give back to The Swallow and try to have the party there, we get the meeting room free, we would’nt get that anywhere else, it saves us quite alot of money. The themed nights sound good where we could join others and have a good time and then retire to their bedrooms without worrying about driving home or paying for a taxi, then in the morning enjoy the magnificent breakfast. mmmmmmm

So a update on this one…
those at the August meeting will know that it has been decided NOT to have a christmas party this year, nah everyone has a christmas party……
Instead we are going to have…. drum roll….
A FIRST BIRTHDAY BALL
on the 30th January 2010 at the Swallow Hotel Preston
Goldwings North West will be 1 year old and its an achievement that just cannot be missed, it must be celebrated!
In the past year the club has grown at a steady pace, we have enjoyed run outs and static displays, a fabulous time at Kirkby Lonsdale, even though the weather wasn’t that kind to us, and of course yet another wonderful Blackpool Light Parade!
We are hoping to bring in the costs of the evening in at around £23 per head for a 3 course meal and disco. The Swallow yet again has agreed to let us have rooms at £55 for a twin/double room and £45 for a single
I do however need to collect deposits asap ie the next meeting of £10 per head, if you cant get to the next meeting please email Bob or Peter to let them know and they will be able to give you an address to send a cheque to.
This party is open to club members and their guest and should be a great evening.
Come and celebrate the birth of our wonderful club!!
