Just to let everyone know, that the Just Giving page, is now closed and the money £640, (that’s not including the gift aid which will be added later)will be on it’s way soonest, to The Royal British Legion for the Poppy Appeal.

Thanks to all of you that donated and supported on this event, it meant a lot to all of us taking part.

The below is taken from an email I received this morning from one of my business contacts, repeated here with her permission -

My husband was ex-forces serving in QLR (Duke of Lancs REGT) for 15 years and did tours of Iraq and Afghan before he came out. My little big brother was injured in Afghan the end of March and he needed an orthopaedic chair, the British Legion provided one for him as the Army just couldn’t manage to get him one! They are fabulous and when we were down at Selly Oaks they came in and took the lads out and brought them things they couldn’t manage to get hold of.

My little big brother has had two operations on his spine now and is learning to walk again. He is very lucky to be alive and the support from all the charities is appreciated by the service personnel and their families. I have seen some very, very young lads with their whole life ahead of them reduced to wheel chairs and sometime a lot worse, but their spirit and steadfast resolve is amazing and it’s because wonderful groups such as yours are supporting them.

A massive thank you from my family to the Goldwingers… what you do makes a life changing difference to those you support.

We came together and got the job done – and had a great deal of fun doing it, solving any problems as they came up instantly which was a great help as time was against us. Make Ted the man who finds food – I bet no one in the club can match him, that breakfast was magic!!
