Lesley Halley Award
At the recent AGM, as your outgoing chairman, I proposed that our club should have an award of some description that could be presented by the organising committee to a member or couple who had, during the previous year, contributed more than, become involved with, or generally driven the club forward in a positive manner, above and beyond what could be expected, and asked for your approval and a suitable title for the award. Well I would like to ask you all to consider we call it the “Lesley Halley Award”. For those who knew the little dynamo it will bring back fond memories, and for those who didn’t get to meet her we can harp on for hours about the things she did and enjoyed. I will leave it in your hands to make the decision at February’s meeting, but quite a few people like the idea.

This was mentioned to me by Barbara at the AGM,and I thought it was a really good idea, after mentioning it to you I realised that more members felt the same way, but no one voiced it aloud. We think it is a very positive thing to do. It should be called ‘The Lesley Halley award’ and be presented to Barry on her behalf for all she did for GoldWings North West in our first year. We all know that she would have gone on to do more in the future had she not passed away so prematurely. Also, it would mean that she would always be with us, and that would be a fitting memory to her. We vote YES.

Although we will be unable to attend 28th February both Maureen and myself agree wholeheartedly with the proposal that the Outstanding GoldWing person(s) of the year trophy be named The Lesley Halley Award. Would you kindly ensure that this message acts as our proxy vote. Best regards John & Maureen

I fully understand why the award is being named after Lesley but have we thought what Barry has to say on the matter?? Surely a Hall of Fame would be an idea (like they have in the wrestling in the states) it does not mean that the person goes unforgotten but in a more special place. I am trying to think outside the box on this one – just on case. I hope my idea does not offend.

Firstly may I apologise to Toni,my wife,I voiced my opinion on her Laptop.
To qualify my statement which I was asked at the last meeting,by the way – we are in a unique position Toni and I of being new to Goldwings, and therefore have no idea of past goings on in other Goldwing clubs. We are not a young club and therefore when members pass away, we must give them the respect they deserve.
Also the club has alot of talented members who give freely of thier talents week in week out, thats why Goldwings Northwest is so popular.
