Meeting announced a success.
The first meeting to be held at the Norman Jepson Hotel was today announced a major success with 40 members attending the meeting. We welcomed one of our Isle of man contingent Mike Heathcote to his very first meeting with Goldwings North West and also received a membership application from John who lives in Bolton and rides a rather nice GL1000. Not everything went to plan with one or two issues on ordering coffee on arrival and lunch after the meetings. We have agreed from next month that on arrival anyone wanting a breakfast instead of lunch can do so, but inform the hotel that you are from Goldwings North West. If you just want to order a coffee you do so at the bar and pay when ordering. If you intend to stay for lunch then please place your order and pay for your meal prior to the meeting, you will be issued a receipt as normal with your order details on it. The meeting will then finish at 12:00 so that lunch can be served without a lengthy delay. I got lots of apologies from the staff today because of the problems but assured them we understood and that they were only teething problems to be expected on a first date. I thought the room size was good and the hotel was very comfortable and well managed, suffice it to say I think we shall do well in our new home.

We had a sunday roast beef dinner after the meeting, and it was very very nice, we could have paid the £2 extra for a bigger one, but believe us when we say that the normal one was enough, we can’t wait to try the rest of the menu. There were afew hickups for the 1st month but nothing that can’t be put right for next month. We’ve found our home for the monthly meetings of the future of GoldWings North West, a very nice meeting room and a very good meeting – as usual.
