Web site changes

calendarYou will find that future events are no longer visible on the main home page and are now only listed under the “Future Events” category. This change allows you to see a comprehensive list of events in date order and also  maintains interesting articles on the home page for a longer period. Hope you find it beneficial.

  1. lol that reads like the script from Dinner Ladies!!

  2. So how will people know when you have added a new event, without remembering to go looking under “Future Events”?

Will you add a separate (regular) news post about it?

  3. I had a long think about that. The answer is they wont, however future events are listed on the home page in the right column in date order under “upcoming events” and also in the Calendar display, so they have a good chance of seeing new future event posts there. The benefit of having future events separate is that they are displayed in date order regardless of when they are posted and make more sense that way. A member interested in a future event can scroll down the list and see what is coming months ahead. If you have future events on the home page only, they quickly drop off the bottom as more posts are added, consequently visitors to the site are less likely to notice an interesting event until it is visible on the Calender display.
I think the benefits outweigh the disadvantage. I can always change it back if members find it frustrating, or even have future events listed in both categories.

    Any comments?
