ride rotary e1280824014884 150x150 Ride for Rotary Report from Dave TurveyI would like to express my thanks to all the members of Goldwings North West and visitors who assisted with the marshalling of the Ride For Rotary. Ian; the organiser of the event, to thank us for our faultless efforts, has said he would have no hesitation in asking for our assistance again next time.  The scores on the doors are : – 110 bikes and £940 raised for charity – which is going to be rounded up to £1000, to be split 4 ways between the 4 charities, Claire House Hospice, Hope House Hospice, Sparks Child Medical Research and Help for Heros.

Once again, thanks to all who helped. A Gallery of images from the days ride can be found on Goldwings North Wales web site or by clicking here. (Ed.)

  1. We had a great day but……….the day began bad when trying to put the start venue in my sat nav not thinking you had to enter the country as well!! Eventually we arrived and had a hot cuppa and biscuit – there was a very good selection of hot food. After the marshalls meeting we were all placed at our sites on the route.. we have one complaint – we were put on a busy roundabout,so I here you say – but when car drivers were looking at Trike and NOT the road or car in front – well it made the day more fun watching drivers brake and just miss the car in front. Then there was pain in the shoulder after holding it in the same position whilest the riders rode by. Joining on the back of the ride afterwards got very interesting – the road was ideal to learn some more about how to ride a trike round bends quickly and I soon mastered a version which works but upset Toni (Bless she has never done bends so quick) To continue we arrived at Ponderosa and oh boy wall to wall bikers and long lines of folk needing the loo and food/drink, so we went shopping, and ended up with Ian,Bob,Jim and respective partners and had a shared meal of fish and chips (how romantic and cheap) even shared a kit kat too!! Then it was time to go home – that was the best bit – Toni did her usual thing – House hunt, look for farm shops selling interesting produce (I think she wants us to move to Wales when she retires) By this time the sun had come out and was great. Really enjoyed the day and will be back next year for sure. One last thing these car based trikes are rubbish round corners and on the straight -we were behind the rewaco the last few miles, kept on catching him up which means GOLDWINGS ROCK!! am I bias?????
