Run out to Goldwings North Wales Meeting – 15 March

thumbs nww run out 2 Run out to Goldwings North Wales Meeting 15 MarchThe day started well enough with the old bike starting on the button with everything appearing to work, lights, indicators etc, etc etc,. Good run down to Lymm Services, weather warm and clear sky ahead of us for the day. Everybody turned up early for a change and we even had time for a brew and a butty. Stuart was late, but as we were leaving his tones could be heard on the CB airwaves and seeing as I was the only one who could hear them I called him black and blue and asked him to take up tail end charlie position. Nice easy run down the M56 into  North Wales via the new section at Queensferry. The Goldwings North Wales meeting, as always, is a nice laid back affair in the Beaufort Park Hotel. We even had a detachment of the Goldwings North West Motor home section call in on their way back from a mission.  It was quickly decided that Enochs fish and chips was out due to some renovation work at the shop. No problem loads of pretty places to visit in North Wales, so off to Betwys to the Royal Oak Hotel for Lunch.

Tell you what, its a diffrent ride when you know the back roads and more scenic routes, congratulations to the guys in GNW for taking us along some of the more interesting and scenic routes in the area, we all enjoyed it. Lunch was good, and served really quickly couldnt believe it. As usual Betwys was full of bikers enjoying the first decent weather for a run out.

On the way back we ended up getting stuck in traffic on the A55 but once again the local knowledge came to the rescue and a back road was found that lead right to Nigel & Joanna’s house for a well deserved brew and a stretch. It was well after 8:00 pm by the time we all got home, we had covered over 270 miles and I dont know about you but I was just getting cold around the edges and was beginning to fade fast. Very glad to get a large whisky in front of me at the end of the day.  A long but cracking day out.
