Dear Biggles and Ginger - being a local - you will find that all the roads in and out on that weekend, sefton council decided to close for some strange or stupid reason which left one road in one road out!!

I know Southport just as well as Preston and to be honest - it completely ruined the day.

So if you know next year a route which would be traffic free, may be you should ring sefton council and ask them to keep it open.

Have a great christmas, my last post until next year.

Have fun everyone!!!

There was a letter in our local paper about this years organisation being poor, and the roads being closed off, the person who wrote it wondered if someone new was doing it because of the lack of stalls on the beach as well as the roads being closed.
Lets hope they revert to past years organisation.

a little local knowledge sometimes helps - there are ways in and out of southport which the masses are not aware of.
thats what makes living in southport some good knowing all the back ways out

May I just say the airshow was superb, Tremendous, we all had a fabulous day
Team Guinot are amazing to say the least, the Red Arrows as spectacular as ever (and the Blades!!), the Vulcan and the Eurofighter leaves everyone amazed!!!

However the only downside was the traffic after the event, 3 hours to get out of Southport (its not worth all that) The Event Staff closed major roads leading out of the town, people had to drive through birkdale, churchtown, meols, then to be told to head for a certain road, which then in turn was closed, disgraceful onbehalf of organisers, next year keep major roads open - cannot believe the sense or lack of from certain event organisers (staff)

Thanks for the show - no thanks for the drive home!!!

Would not go again purely because of traffic chaos!!

Your right Lesley, It was a long day as well. Jackie & I stayed until well after 5:30 and stopped for a drink on the way home, didn't get in until after 8:00. Good day though. Jimmy Ryan & Brian Stanford got stuck in all the traffic and took over 2 hours to get home.
