Snow makes Train Trip
Once again the snow came down and turned the Keighley Worth Valley Rail Trip into a winter wonderland. It wasn’t all that bad to be honest, with most people managing to get to Ingrow West Station from all directions in time for the 11:00 train. It was quite amusing how many Sat Nav systems took drivers the short route over the moors with no consideration for the weather conditions. Maybe Garmin could do something about that. The Steam train was running a little bit late but everyone managed to get warm in front of the real log fire in the waiting room. Our carriage turned out to be too small for the members who turned up, so after getting comfy and settling in we had to up sticks and move to the next
carriage which was bigger and could seat all of us together. The carriage must have been an MK 1 from the early 50s, these carriages had a lifespan of round 40 years and went out of active service only quite recently in some areas. It was labelled as private for the use of Goldwings North West Only. The heating soon kicked in and kept everyone nice and warm. Thanks to Jimmy & Daphne Ryan for arranging the whole day, they both worked very hard to ensure everyone enjoyed their meal and had a good time. Lunch was enjoyed by everyone, with the soup definitely being home made, the sandwiches and sweets the same. There was very little left at the end of the day. Many members took the opportunity to leave the train and have a look around the old railway stations and real ale pubs along the route. Jimmy provided several bottles of wine for the raffle which raised a few £s for club funds, and the snow did nothing but add to the day. It was great. Photographs from the day can be found in the 2010 gallery or by clicking here. If you have any images you want adding to the gallery please e mail them to me.

Are members going on their bikes or in cars? Or maybe a mixture of both.

Whatever suits you really. I think most people will travel in cars due to the possible weather, but its up to you. We do see wings attending whatever the weather.

OK then, who’s going on their bikes?

All change. Seen the weather report for Sun, we maybe better going in the car after all, due to some dodgy road conditions.
