Tropical World Leeds – Run out May 31st
May 31st run out to Tropical World Leeds.
Well the weather certainly behaved itself for the run out. It was gloriously hot on the run over to Leeds; Bill Squires suggested it was as good as being abroad. Sat Nav did the usual and took us around the back streets of Leeds and we got stuck in a couple of traffic works. Nice enough run though.
Tropical World is situated in Roundhey Park and there isn’t a car park so we ended up parking the wings on an adjacent road next to the Pub. Silly idea really as we all ended up having a shandy sat outside in the sunshine. Tropical World is probably a really good place to visit and spend several hours looking at the wildlife on a dull and overcast day. Suffice it to say it was really hot in the glass house due to the fabulous weather outside. It was good value for money with lots to see and photograph. After an hour it was a relief to come outside from the soaring temperatures. The on sight café took a pounding as we decided to have a drink and some lunch. Someone decided it would be nice to go to a beach, so Southport was decided upon due to its availability of quality Fish & Chips for tea.
We ended up parked at the Pier head where we discovered more than the usual number of Goldwings parked up. Ian Duxbury jumped into membership mode and handed out cards and membership application forms. It was interesting to chat with Goldwing owners who had no experience of being in a club and riding out with other owners. Graham and Jackie turned up on their “Flamin Orange” Trike; this is the one that never saw the light of day at Chipping Steam Fair due to being stuck in the van because of all the mud. What a difference a sunny day makes.
It was well past playing out time when we got home, but a good day was had by all.

Hi Pete & Karen, I’d love to come along too. Would it be possible to meet you on route say just after the A59 Clitheroe roundabout there is a parking bay/slip road. I could join you then rather than double back on myself???
