The dinner dance at the Leyland Hotel turned out to be a terrific event. Federation members from all three clubs supported us and had a really good time. Special VIP Guests, Eric & Bridget Warburton, proprietors of Knutsford Honda, spent the evening with us and even won a raffle prize. Thanks to the organising team who put the whole affair together. Anniversary Big Success

The recent anniversary dinner dance at the Leyland Hotel was hailed a major success, although under a cloud of sorrow, the many people who attended said this was the best Christmas / anniversary party ever, and that is a tall order as we have had lots of good parties in the past. Lesley certainly played a blinder when she found this venue. I’m sure it will be difficult to go elsewhere for next years event. The number of members and guests at the party was certainly impressive with 80 people sitting down for the meal and the all inclusive bar. I must say I liked the carvery style meal with lots of choice of courses to suit everyone. The free wine on the tables was not the best ever tasted but believe me I’ve had worse, but by all accounts the wine runners were kept busy all night replacing bottle after bottle. What was most impressive is how well everyone turned out, the order of the day was mostly dinner jackets or lounge suits for the chaps and posh frock and gowns for the ladies. A rather splendid evening by all accounts. The fun really started when the all inclusive bar opened and the disco started in earnest. By this time most people had had enough to drink to render any shyness on the dance floor totally defunct. The floor really hotted up when the venue provided silly props like blow up guitars and umbrellas to go with various tracks, you must visit the photo gallery to see how silly it got. The free bar was well attended by our resident drinkers and full advantage was taken of the shorts and draughts on offer, it was a pity it all had to finish. Thanks to all our visitors, many of them too regular not to be members by now, Goldwings North West members for making the effort to support the club and travel from fields as far away as the Isle of Man and also to the Goldwings North Wales party of 10 who attended the event in force, well done and thank you to you all. I know Lesley would have been really chuffed.

Dave Turvey, Chairman of Goldwings North Wales confirms that 10 of their members have booked for the anniversary dinner dance and overnight accommodation. Thats absolutely brilliant news, well done North Wales. We look forward to welcoming you all to the celebration, especially Derek who promised to wear his kilt and Alan and Rodney who may be in officers No1 Dress, should be quite a spectacle. On behalf of North West members, thank you for coming and I promise you an outstanding evening among Goldwing owners. 84 members & guests have booked for this event and the chance to attend is now closed. It looks like being a superb evening. The Feathers Hotel is a rather posh affair and the food and service is excellent. What wth the all inclusive bar I will be on the lookout for volunteers for the mornings AGM meeting. Have a great night!

I couldn’t believe it either. This will mean that you will have to book your own meal and hotel rooms individually quoting the booking reference. For this deal we have to have a minimum of 80 bookings. If we all bring a guest couple with us we will meet the minimum number quite easily, and I’m sure our friends from Goldwings North Wales and East Yorkshire plus all our individual Federation members would be interested in coming along plus we can invite any friends and family who may be interested. Shouldn’t be too difficult to sell this to all our friends.

This is the menu choice. Its a carvery service so you can decide what you want on the night.

Starters

A warming winter broth of cellar vegetables with barley and golden parsnips and served with cheesy herb croutons

Roasted beetroot olive and feta cheese tossed in a mint and orange salad with an aged balsamic dressing

Field mushrooms flavoured with a Cropwell Bishop Stilton sauce on sweet onion bread

Fine brandy chicken liver pâté studded with candied cranberries and accompanied by a port and caramelised red onion marmalade

Main Course

Sage brushed fresh Cheshire turkey infused with fresh garden herbs, maple syrup chipolatas enhanced with a chestnut and cranberry stuffing.

Hot baked home roasted ham flavoured with freshly ground cinnamon and accompanied by a whole grain brandy and mustard sauce

Slowly cooked casserole of juniper lamb finished with roasted shallots, thyme and sage dumplings

Roasted salmon fillet set on garlic spinach with a shell fish and prawn sauce

Roasted butternut squash feta spinach and pine nut cake set on roasted vegetables infused with basil olive oil

With all of the above main courses, we offer freshly cooked Christmas style market vegetables

Desserts

A sumptuous sticky toffee pudding studded with plump dates and served with rich butterscotch sauce

A superb Mrs Beeton style Christmas pudding with a brandy cream sauce

A citrus fruit salad laced with Cointreau and Christmas cherries

Bailey’s crème brulée cheesecake glazed with melted fudge

A decadent double chocolate Belgium torte sprinkled in chocolate dust

A sumptuous tea cup sherry trifle with fresh fruits
