Trikes and the Chairman’s Curse………
Those of you who went on the Sunday Dinner Dales run last year may remember a little incident where our then Chairman, Bob, had a small incident with Dave Bayliss’s trike…For those of you who weren’t there, Bob had hitched a lift on the back of Dave’s trike down to where the rest of us were waiting. Things were going well until the dismount, when Bob lost his footing and suddenly disappeared from view. This was bad enough, but

Don’t forget our Annual general meeting will take place at 11:00 am 31st January 2010 at the Feathers Hotel Leyland, not our usual meeting place the Norman Jepson. This is the day after our “all inclusive free bar” anniversary dinner dance, so we should all be up bright and early for our very first AGM. The meeting is open to all federation club members and a

How are we doing?………..
At the risk of being accused of self-congratulations, we thought that it was time to give you an update on the state of the club so far………..
On the 1st February 2009, the very first meeting of what was to become Goldwings North West took place at the Swallow Hotel. Forty-seven people attended, which did come as somewhat of a very pleasant surprise, as just like with anything new, you’re never quite sure how it’s going to be received. Various things were decided at the
Increase in Website traffic
Visitor numbers to our website continue to increase with November 09 report showing 10,609 individual unique visits, an increase of 2306 visitors from the previous month. Interestingly we also attract visitors from other motorcycle clubs looking for information on events and ideas for run outs. We must be doing something right. Our Webmaster Nigel Mackintosh must be congratulated on producing such a clear and easy to manage internet presence and you the membership for posting and commenting on what is obviously an attractive and interesting web site.
Club welcomes new members at Octobers meeting.
It was great to see everyone at the October meeting, especially Dave Baylis who’s back after a medical procedure. The nice surprise was three new applicants signed up for membership, plus we had a Goldwing owner interested in the club and a visitor who turned up on the spur of the moment. I’m sorry if I don’t mention all your names here but welcome to Goldwings North West. You caught us with a very busy meeting with lots of reports to get through. It’s not normally that intense. For those who joined and had their photo’s captured, have a look in the members section, you’ll be amongst good company. If you didn’t join the club today, I trust you enjoyed the meeting and had a taste of what the club is about, your welcome to download the application form and send it to the secretary at any time.
See you all at the next meeting or the Salvation Army Toy Run on the 7th November.
Good Luck, Dave!
Dave is now back home feeling well and looking forward to attending the meeting in October
Or to quote him recently, “The stick has been burned at the stake!!!!!!! You will not know the new me ! ,except for a couple of things which will come apparent when we come to the meeting.”
Can’t wait to see the new improved Dave v 2.0! (Ed)
Christmas Party – Ideas!
As the whole country is suffering the blistering heat wave our minds start to wander to times of cooler weather. The best time for cooler weather is Christmas : not that far away really, its only 13 weeks away! So we must put some thoughts together at what the members would like to do for a Christmas Dinner Dance. Due to being a club in infancy our
BLP – Here at last!
The organisation of the Light Parade for 2009 has proved to be the most complicated to date. I wont bore you with the detail but it was certainly an uphill climb for those involved. Thankfully everything is now in place from the accomodation, entertainment, police and the light parade on the Saturday night itself.
Federation launch site
The Federation of UK Goldwing Clubs has launched its official website. I’m sure it will attract lots of interested visitors over the coming months and hopefully some sensible comment. It’s early days yet and there are few clubs in number but any organisation has to start somewhere. Here’s to the future.
Help for Heroes

Hi all.
What can I say? 19 bikes turned up for this worthy charity. And four members from, Goldwings North Wales, brilliant. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw you all then they just kept arriving, one or two got lost but made it in the end. What a splendid sight all 19 Goldwings, Frank leading us down the wrong road,(I have to say, I did tell him to turn right) the locals must have wondered what was going on with us riding round their estate.
