I am due to collect an amazing trike from Barry at Colin Appleyards in April but I do not yet have a garage.

I have been trusting the local council to rent me one, but they are not offering a safe garages, as they are all tucked away in silent places.

I have looked at metal garages to have built on my property, but the car garages are too large and the bike ones do not allow enough door space to allow for a trike.  

Without this I cannot get insurance.  Is there something I havent thought of?  Is there anything else I can do?  

I have waited for the chance to own my own trike for years now.  I cannnot lose it just for a garage?  Can someone help please?

This is urgent now. I have ran out of ideas.  I met many lovely people in Llandudno last year, and I hope someone can help me.

It has a chrome top box rack, chrome engine covers and lots of other chrome, tow bar with electrics, Tulsa screen fitted, but it does have the original one. It also has one of those MP3 music players that pretends to be a Honda CD player and works with the bike’s built in controls and the display of disk and track number.

Because it’s a US spec GL1800 this trike can be fitted with a Hondaline CB radio should the new owner wish to do so.

The trike has also had quite a bit of discrete display lighting fitted for use in Light Parades.

Price includes a newly done MOT on hand over.

Famous for his personal world tour series and tramping around naked in the snow in Billy Connolly: Journey to the Edge of the World, the comedian has put together a peaktime series, Billy Connolly’s Route 66. Billy will be riding what looks like his Boom trike, similar to the one he rode around Australia a few years ago and will take his banjo with him as he explores US history and music along the famous trail from Chicago and St Louis, through Oklahoma and Texas to Los Angeles.

Connolly said: “Travelling Route 66 has always been a lifelong ambition. It brings together some of my favourite things – my trike, my banjo and America. The ultimate road trip.”

Billy Connolly’s “Route 66″ is on ITV 9:00pm from 15th September. Not to be missed, if only for the trike.

The meeting’s attendance was a little low on numbers as could be expected but it was good to see the 25 or so who had turned up and braved the elements, all be it in four wheel transport. Our club christmas lunch went well with everyone sitting around three or four large tables in a seperate seating area set up just for us. The fayre was good, and reasonably priced to, everyone had a very enjoyable relaxing afternoons lunch.

A seriously specialist magazine, Trike is just about to start its third year of publication and even we’re a bit stunned at the response there’s been to it! It seems that Trike is just what the UK needed – a magazine for and dedicated to all things three-wheeled! The UK trike scene is now one of the fastest growing and most popular avenues of biking, and the magazine reflects this by showcasing the best of what’s available out there in the wide world both commercially-built and privately too.

Trike features everything from bolt-on conversions to one-off builds using almost any engine or wheel combination you can think of – everything from Reliants to diesels to V8 Chevrolets to the latest superbikes and cruisers through all points in between. We also run a dedicated readers’ pictures section, a free-for-all trike sales section and, of course, witty and informative articles on just about anything tri-cyclular.

Published four times a year, Trike is the must-have magazine for all things three-wheeled!

Fast forward to today at the Railway Station, where lots of snow had fallen onto a lovely hidden slippery bed of cobbles……..where I drove in to a full car park except for one space next to a rather nice silver Saab belonging to Dave & Toni. Turning into the space went well at first until my car suddenly decided that it much preferred to go straight on and resulted in our bouncing off Dave’s bumper. Yet once more, your Chairman was left to apologise and pray that it wasn’t too bad!

As things turned out, all was well and no lasting injuries sustained………..but I’m sure that Dave  will be putting an Chairman Exclusion Zone around all his vehicles for at least the first few months of next year!

So, guys, let’s keep everything crossed and hope the wind’s blowing in the right direction to allow 50% of our Isle of Man membership to be with us this weekend! Look forward to seeing you, Mike

On the 1st February 2009, the very first meeting of what was to become Goldwings North West took place at the Swallow Hotel. Forty-seven people attended, which did come as somewhat of a very pleasant surprise, as just like with anything new, you’re never quite sure how it’s going to be received. Various things were decided at the meeting, such as our new name, club officers, fees and the way forward, and the meeting finally closed with a positive outlook to the future and the first ‘real’ meeting date in place. The concept of a Goldwing Federation of independant clubs was introduced and warmly received by the audience.

All we then had to do was wait and see…………..

Our first ‘official’ meeting took place on March 1st, and since then, I am extremely happy to report that our membership has grown steadily month on month and currently stands at a total of 41 memberships. This may not sound like a lot, but you need to remember:

One membership does not equal one person, as the membership is per bike, and not per individual.

Therefore, our actual number of members, even if you assume that 25% of memberships are solo riders, is around the 70 mark.

Given that memberships only became available from March this year, this equates to a joining rate of 5 memberships per month, i.e., one per week and this is continuing at present.

Members come from a widespread geographical area, from the Isle of Man in the West to Manchester in the East, from Cumbria in the North to Warrington in the South (apologies to anyone who feels they’re further North/South, etc, but I’m rubbish at geography!).

Our members own the complete range of Goldwings, from the earliest to the newest, with Solos, Trikes and Sidecars all admirably represented.

And, to put the cherry on the cake, as it were, we’re a club of doers – members organise events, runs out and always turn out in force at whatever events we choose to support, rather than the burdens always falling to a willing few. We’ve been to great events, like the Ride To The Wall in October and have a brilliant Anniversary Dinner to look forwards to in the New Year. We, in conjunction with Goldwings North Wales, staged the hugely successful BLP in 2009.

In short, then, our club has grown from strength to strength in a matter of months, a process which many other clubs have struggled for years to achieve. We’re providing Wingers with a club that they want, without politics and where friendship, Wings and above all, FUN are the priorities. We have a healthy and growing membership and the prospects of an even better year ahead.

Me, I can’t wait!

Or to quote him recently, “The stick has been burned at the stake!!!!!!! You will not know the new me ! ,except for a couple of things which will come apparent when we come to the meeting.”
